Publisher's Summary

The Late Bloomer is the fourth volume of the Dangerous Old Woman Series with Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes.

"What makes talent bloom? Ask what makes a tree blossom. They are the same. It is not unfathomable. It only takes concentration. Concentration of energies is what makes a tree flower. Not bigger, not faster, not taking up more space. Rather, less space. Density. Pressure in hard places. Often, in the dark. Relentlessly. Freely. For as long as it takes. Hold faith, a gestation can go long and for good reason, and nothing much shows above ground. But then, one day..." - Clarissa Pinkola Estes, PhD

    Balm for the soul

Clarissa has a soothing voice, fitting for the wisdom she speaks. Her wisdom is a deep understanding of the human condition, folklore, and in this book she demonstrates her understanding of individuals who, through one circumstance or another, are taking ‘the zig-zag path’ to the destined outworking of their purpose and gift.
Would recommend this book to anyone who has an inkling of themselves as a late bloomer… perhaps you’ve achieved something of your calling but don’t feel it matches your ambitions. Perhaps there’s a current shift or block in your path (for me, 3yrs severe illness) – Clarissa’s insight, perception and tenderness will help to resolve any despair over ‘lost time’ or ‘if I haven’t achieved it by now I can’t/won’t’ type thinking. The book speaks to the many who find their calling later once they’ve come to know themselves more deeply, or many who grow the capabilities through their life/later in life to let go of things holding them back & establish their own unique way.
