Publisher's Summary

"The story touches on many familiar fantasy plot points—magic, an ancient language, an ability to commune with wild creatures, a climactic battle between the forces of good and evil—yet manages to be satisfying. It’s aided by a capable reading from Barber, who invests Rollins’ characters with a variety of British accents that help make each a distinguishable, real person."- The Providence Journal

An imprisoned thief, who escapes the crushing dark and discovers a gleaming artifact—one that will ignite a power struggle across the globe.

On the run, hunted by enemies old and new, they must learn to trust each other in order to survive in a world evolved in strange, beautiful, and deadly ways, and uncover ancient secrets that hold the key to their salvation.

But with each passing moment, doom draws closer.

    I wasn’t feeling it sorry

I bought this book after recommendation on twitter from R E Feist. However even by the end of the book, I felt like the world it was set it in, I was still a stranger to. I had no love for any of the characters, i can’t rlly say why. I couldn’t rlly be bothered trying to care about whether the world stopped turning and the moon crashed into it as I felt nothing for it. The writing was passable. 5he story I could tell is well planned out however most of it seemed kind of pointless. The narrator did a reasonable job but didn’t have much to work with. I won’t be going back for part 2
