Felt incomplete
Narrator struggled a bit with some of the Scottish names and places, but clearly was doing their best with their American accent. This book probably would have better suited a narrator from the UK.
The book itself was very strangely structured. The beginning was focused enough, but the rest is almost entirely focused on Scotland’s medieval period.
This portion was well written, but was hardly concise, as was advertised. It then skipped suddenly to the Industrial revolution, without even mention of the Jacobite rebellion, Act of Union or any other events in that 500 year period!
The book then suddenly finishes with the author’s own political views on Brexit, which felt quite out of place.
Overall, this book was not fully concise nor complete. It’s a shame, because it clearly had potential as a good introduction to Scottish history.
